India’s contingent for the Commonwealth Games 2026 was given a grand send-off by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) in New Delhi on Tuesday, with the official ceremonial and competition kit for the Glasgow Games also being unveiled.

The ceremony was attended by Union Sports Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, IOA president P.T. Usha, Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh, Sports Secretary Hari Ranjan Rao, Chef de Mission Rohit Rajpal and Deputy Chef de Mission Ravi Bengani, along with athletes, coaches, support staff and corporate partners.

Speaking at the event Mandaviya said India’s athletes are carrying the aspirations of the country and urged them to compete fearlessly in Glasgow. “India is building a world-class sporting ecosystem to help athletes realise their full potential. Our athletes represent the excellence, determination and ambition of New India. As Team India heads to Glasgow, I urge every athlete to compete fearlessly, uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and give their best. The government stands firmly behind you and remains committed to extending every possible support,” he said.

Usha also backed the contingent and said the focus should remain on performance rather than pressure. “I hope the preparations go well. I do not want to burden the athletes with expectations of gold or silver, but I do hope they give their best and return with medals. The 2030 Commonwealth Games are very important for us as India will host them, and I am confident our athletes will put in strong performances. SAI and the government are giving them full support,” she said.

India will send a 124-member contingent, comprising both able-bodied and para-athletes, for the Glasgow Games, to be held from July 23 to August 2.

The send-off ceremony also featured the unveiling of Team India’s official kit, designed by Aaquib Wani and developed by JSW Sports. India’s campaign in Glasgow will be led by Chef de Mission Rohit Rajpal and Deputy Chef de Mission Ravi Bengani.
