Boks get Baltimore boost

Coach Rassie Erasmus has revealed which injured Springboks will be on the plane to the USA for the fourth and final Test of the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series.

Fullback Damian Willemse did not return for the second half of the Boks’ 33-26 win against the All Blacks in Cape Town and has been ruled out of Saturday’s third Test at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, with Cheslin Kolbe shifting from the right wing to fullback and Kurt-Lee Arendse coming back into the team. mieszalniakolorado.pl

Erasmus confirmed on Monday that Willemse’s injury is not serious and that he should be available for the series finale on 12 September.

“He pulled a hamstring, grade one, so he should be on the plane on Sunday to Baltimore,” said Erasmus.

Flyhalf Handré Pollard was initially named to start at flyhalf for the second Test before being ruled out with a calf injury. He was unavailable for selection for the third Test, with Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu retaining the No 10 jersey.

Scrumhalf Grant Williams has been sidelined since picking up an ankle injury during the first Test at Ellis Park, while utility back Canan Moodie has yet to feature in the series after suffering a hamstring injury against Argentina.

However, there is good news on all three players.

“Handré, Grant and Canan will be on the plane to Baltimore,” Erasmus said. “They’ll be ready for selection next week.”

Orlando Pirates will be looking to consolidate their position at the top of the Betway Premiership standings when they face Kruger United at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit tonight (kick-off is at 7.30pm).

The Buccaneers are currently tied on 10 points with second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns, but occupy top spot due to their superior goal difference.

Their hosts, Kruger United, sit at the bottom of the log standings after collecting just one point in their opening four matches of their first season in the top flight.

With games coming thick and fast for Pirates, coach Abdeslam Ouaddou will likely change his starting line-up and once again give youngsters like Mpho Padime and Simphiwe Masilela a chance to shine against the newly promoted Premiership side.

Ouaddou introduced the two youngsters in the second half of the 3-0 win over Sekhukhune United in the second leg of the MTN8 at the Orlando Amstel Arena this past weekend. And the Moroccan was pleased with how they played in the match.

Speaking after the game in Orlando on Saturday, Ouaddou issued a stern warning to Padime and Masilela and other Pirates youngsters, urging them to prioritise their physical health and professional discipline.

“Not only him (Mpho Padime}, I think we can include Masilela in the talk. Well, done to both of them. I think Pirates is a club that is giving chances to the young. It’s not the first time, and we continue the process. They did very well, we saw they have great potential,” said Ouaddou before giving advice to the Pirates academy graduates.

“Now, they must keep on working, they must keep on being humble, listening to be coachable. It’s only the first game. A career is a minimum of 10 years. When I have an opportunity to give them game time, definitely I will give them.

“But they must still work and be very professional because in football you can go high quickly, but you can fall quickly as well.

“Well done, keep working. Be careful about your life. You have to be professional. Think football, you train, you go home, you rest. You eat good, you drink water and not something else. Don’t smoke, don’t take things that can destroy your body,” added the Moroccan.

Après plusieurs mois de débats autour de leur compatibilité, cette rencontre pourrait bien constituer un tournant. Le duo fonctionne et semble surtout avoir trouvé un équilibre permettant à chacun d’exprimer ses qualités.

Mourinho a trouvé la formule

Mbappé et Bellingham se connaissent déjà. La saison dernière, les deux stars avaient évolué ensemble, sans toutefois parvenir à exploiter pleinement leur complémentarité. L’association manquait parfois de fluidité et les interrogations restaient nombreuses.

Depuis l’arrivée de José Mourinho, le scénario semble avoir changé. Le technicien portugais paraît avoir trouvé la formule permettant aux deux hommes de conserver leur liberté offensive tout en participant à un collectif mieux structuré.

Mbappé peut davantage exploiter sa vitesse et ses appels en profondeur, tandis que Bellingham profite des espaces pour se projeter, participer à la construction et se retrouver plus régulièrement dans les zones dangereuses. Une organisation qui permet aux deux stars de mieux se mettre mutuellement en valeur.

Le problème ne venait peut-être pas des joueurs, mais simplement de leur utilisation. Il fallait trouver la bonne formule. Et Mourinho semble aujourd’hui avoir apporté la réponse.

Mourinho assume ses choix

Le technicien madrilène assume pleinement ses choix et défend l’association de ses meilleurs éléments, notamment Mbappé, Vinicius et Bellingham. Il refuse de considérer leur présence simultanée comme un problème de compatibilité.

« Les très, très bons joueurs veulent toujours jouer ensemble, parce qu’ils ont la même vitesse de réflexion, la même qualité et ils doivent toujours être compatibles », a-t-il expliqué.

Pour Mourinho, il n’est donc pas question de choisir entre les meilleurs. Son objectif est au contraire de les faire évoluer ensemble et de créer les conditions nécessaires pour qu’ils puissent s’exprimer.

« Je veux toujours les meilleurs », a-t-il également affirmé, en insistant sur l’importance de « l’empathie et du travail collectif ».

Le nouveau moteur du Real Madrid

Le message du Portugais est clair : au Real Madrid, les individualités ne doivent pas se concurrencer, mais se compléter.

Mbappé apporte sa vitesse, ses appels et sa capacité à faire basculer une rencontre sur une accélération. Bellingham, de son côté, combine puissance, qualité technique, projection et intelligence dans les espaces.

Ce qui ressemblait hier à un casse-tête tactique est en train de devenir une véritable force. Sous Mourinho, Mbappé et Bellingham semblent avoir trouvé les clés pour jouer ensemble et tirer le meilleur de leur association.

Si cette connexion continue de monter en puissance, le Real Madrid pourrait bien avoir trouvé un nouveau duo vedette capable de porter ses ambitions cette saison. Les doutes, eux, semblent déjà appartenir au passé.

L’aventure de Jorge Sampaoli au Club Atlético Talleres aura été particulièrement courte. Arrivé cet été avec l’ambition de relancer une équipe en difficulté, l’entraîneur argentin de 66 ans quitte finalement son poste après seulement sept rencontres officielles.

La décision a été officialisée par la direction de Talleres au lendemain du match nul concédé à domicile face à Central Córdoba (0-0). Le bilan du technicien est loin des attentes : une seule victoire, deux nuls et quatre défaites. Avec seulement cinq points récoltés, le club occupait la dernière place de sa zone dans le Torneo Clausura.

Le seul succès de Sampaoli à la tête de l’équipe avait été obtenu face à Platense, largement battu 4-0. Pour le reste, Talleres a connu plusieurs revers, notamment contre Vélez, Lanús et Gimnasia de Mendoza, avant d’enchaîner deux matchs nuls lors de ses dernières sorties.

Cette séparation met donc fin à une expérience qui n’aura duré qu’environ 81 jours. Le club a indiqué que Sampaoli et son staff seraient rémunérés jusqu’à leur dernier jour travaillé, tout en saluant leur professionnalisme et leur implication auprès des joueurs, notamment des jeunes issus de la formation.

Pour Sampaoli, ce départ constitue un nouveau chapitre très court dans une carrière marquée ces dernières années par plusieurs changements de clubs. Son retour sur un banc du championnat argentin, très attendu après ses expériences à l’étranger, s’achève ainsi bien plus tôt que prévu.

Kaizer Chiefs winger Faiz Abrahams expressed his gratitude for the opportunity after making his debut for the Soweto giants.

Abrahams made his debut for Amakhosi in their 2-2 draw against Richards Bay in their Betway Premiership encounter at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban.

The 21-year-old will be hoping to get the opportunity to make his second appearance when Amakhosi take on Siwelele FC at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday.

Abrahams also assessed his performance, the team’s missed chances and the challenging conditions, while insisting there are areas they will work on moving forward.

“It was my first time travelling with Kaizer Chiefs,” Abrahams told his club’s official website.

“It felt good to be included and I appreciate the coach’s belief in me. I have worked hard since I arrived and I am grateful for the support I have received and honoured to be playing for this great Club.”

“The coach told me to go out there and create chances for us to get back into the game.

“I think I made a few opportunities that we might have scored from, so I am quite happy with how I did.

“We played well enough to win the game but we had a couple of misfortunes which we will definitely work on cutting out going forward.

“The conditions made things a bit difficult. It was windy as well which made controlling the slippery ball difficult but overall, I think the guys coped well in the circumstances.”
