Konyaspor Officials Rule Out Mostafa Mohamed Move

Konyaspor officials reportedly do not intend to sign Nantes striker Mostafa Mohamed, despite earlier reports that the club made him an offer.

Agents offered Mostafa Mohamed to Konyaspor during the current transfer window, according to Konya’nın Sesi. However, club officials told the Turkish outlet that Konyaspor did not plan to pursue the Egypt international.

Konyaspor currently have nine foreign players and intend to use their remaining foreign player spot on a winger rather than another striker.

KingFut previously reported that the player had travelled to Turkey to complete a move away from Nantes. Sources described Konyaspor as the leading candidate for Mostafa Mohamed and said the club had submitted a lucrative offer.

So far, Mohamed’s future remains unresolved as he seeks a departure from Nantes. The French club want a transfer fee and will not agree to release him for free. His contract runs until June 2027.

Mohamed is also trying to negotiate a financial settlement with Nantes. His wages were reduced following the club’s relegation to Ligue 2.

The 28-year-old has trained away from the senior squad since returning to Nantes almost one month after pre-season began. Head coach Michel Der Zakarian said Mohamed would remain with the reserve team until the transfer window closed.

He has consequently missed Nantes’ opening three Ligue 2 matches against Red Star, Laval and Rodez.

A move to the Süper Lig would return Mohamed to a familiar competition. He scored 17 goals in 58 appearances for Galatasaray after joining from Zamalek in January 2021.

Nantes first signed him on loan in 2022 before completing a permanent transfer the following year. He scored four goals in 24 league appearances last season and subsequently missed out on Egypt’s 2026 World Cup squad.

Talks with Pyramids also were reported to have stalled earlier this month because the parties could not agree on the proposed contract length. Turkey’s summer transfer window closes on Friday, September 4.
